MARTINI
5 MINUTES
SERVES 1, ADJUST QUANTITIES ACCORDINGLY
I don’t know how it happened. I turned 25 and poof, I suddenly preferred my whiskey neat and my cocktails strong. Out of nowhere, a girl who always drank something sweet and fruity suddenly had an affinity for dirty martinis.
Now, there isn’t anything revolutionary about martinis, is there? Quite simple really. Yet, I am here to stress the importance of your ingredients and the impact they have. Really, I’m just here to talk about the olives. I should have probably just done a whole post about olives, but this has been their main purpose in my household so here we are. Whole Foods sells these very yummy olives in their cheese department, “Mediterranean Chili” and “Bloody Mary” olives. These are my secret weapon to anyone who tells me they don’t like martinis. Moderately spicy and so smooth, this recipe has been tried and true over the past 16 weeks of quarantine. I suppose you could call it my quarantini. #notlame
INGREDIENTS
- 2 parts Tito’s vodka (My personal favorite Vodka, and a fair price point)
- 1 part vermouth (I use Maison Dolin & Cie, Vermouth Dry)
- 1 Tablespoon olive brine (AKA, the juice they are packed in)
- 3 Greek olives in “Chili Mix” or “Bloody Mary” from Whole Foods
- A few ice cubes
TOOLS
- Cocktail Shaker
- Toothpicks
METHOD
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, vermouth, olive brine, and ice, then give it a good shake. Be sure to hold on to the top…Max could tell you all about how to clean an entire kitchen if you don’t!
- Pour into your cutest glass and top off with olives.
- Enjoy alone, over Zoom calls with friends, or in whatever capacity you prefer! Happy quarantini-ing!
Pair with:
Eat – Raincoat Crisps and 8- month aged Manchego cheese, also found at Whole Foods
