HONEY MANGO MARGARITA
10 MINUTES
SERVES 2 (21+) HAPPY BELLIES
Sometimes when I create a recipe, it’s something intentional and deliberate…but most of the time my recipes come from desperate hunger and a desire to clear out my pantry, and this is how the Honey Mango Margarita was born.
This quarantine season, I’ve been trying to limit my trips to the grocery store which often leads to stocking up unnecessarily. A couple of weeks ago Whole Foods had honey mangos on sale, 5 for $5, so naturally I got 5. When Friday came around, I still had all 5 in my cupboard. Oops. In my effort to NOT waste food, I decided I needed to use them up, and fast! Here was the divine result of my indulgent mistake.
INGREDIENTS
- Two small/one large honey mango, diced
- 4 oz of tequila (My preference is Casamigos or Casadores Reposado, but any tequila will do)
- Juice of 2-3 limes
- 1 tsp of chili powder
- 24 oz crushed ice
- Optional: I think the mangos make things sweet enough, but a tsp or two of agave syrup would do the trick here if you prefer your drinks on the sweeter side
PREPARATION
- In a high-powered blender, add all ingredients
- Blend on high for about 45 seconds, or until everything is smooth.
- Fill a bowl big enough for the rim of the glass you are pouring your margarita into with about a centimeter of cold water.
- Fill another bowl with a combination of 1 tsp of Malden’s flaky sea salt and 1 tsp of chili powder.
- Dip the rim of your glass into the water bowl and then immediately into the salt/chili mixture.
- Distribute the margarita evenly into the glasses and take a sip. So fresh. So yummy.
